Creating an Ergonomic Home Office
Recently, I was diagnosed with tendonitis in both arms due to computer use. I have been lazy about updating my office and making it ergonomic. Well, I’m paying the price! Here are some great links on getting your home office set up in a healthy way so you are able to avoid injury.
This is a great weekend project from Cnet– step by step on how to properly set up your office:

Font Size Issues
One of the challenges web designers encounter, is font size translating well in different browsers and systems.
There is an excellent article through The Code Project. Follow this link to read the entire article: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/HTML/theemunit.aspx
If you don’t have an opportunity to read the entire article: here are the highlights:
Font Size Issues:
One solution is to fix the font sizes so that browsers can not change them. When doing this, the layout remains static, even when the font-change feature is used. This keeps your design integrity in place by taking away some of the end-user options to customize.
Why is this not a great option? This can potentially cause viewing problems for people on different platforms and cause a significant problem for people with disabilities that need to change the font size in order to view the content comfortably.
A better solution is to use the EM unit in your CSS specifications. EMs are supposed to be the same relative size, as they are defined by the width of the letter ‘m’ in the current font. You can define any HTML element in terms of EM via CSS. With this being said, designers need to consider the relative font size when designing. What’s the consideration when using this option? “The parent object may be defined in terms of points, pixels, or some other unchangeable unit, and so most of the power of EM is lost. This causes things to act strangely, especially since width:1em will use the document default font, whereas font-size:1em will use the ‘parent object font’ method. This means you can’t have perfect scaling of objects, like in PDF, and things quickly get out of control if you are not careful.”
